The Ramped-Landing Workaround for a True Zero-Pit Home
Where even a shallow recess is off the table - a slab you genuinely cannot touch - there is a workaround that involves no digging at all: raise the floor instead of lowering the lift. If the cabin floor needs to sit a little above the existing slab, you build a low ramped landing or raised platform at the entry so the lowest stop meets the cabin floor cleanly.
It is a simple idea with honest implications. For a wheelchair user the ramp gradient has to be gentle enough to be usable, which means it needs floor length to run out over - and in a tight terrace entry hall that length is not always there, so a steep ramp becomes a trip hazard rather than a solution. What Stays Non-Negotiable, Pit or No Pit
Removing the pit removes a chunk of structural work - not the rest of the rules.
