The useful schedule includes reasons to pause
A completion date helps a household plan, but roof work also needs criteria for starting and resuming each stage. Ask for a programme that separates investigation, preparation, repairs, application, curing and acceptance. A promise of “three dry days” does not explain what happens if the substrate is still unsuitable on the first morning.
For a liquid system, the current local product documentation is a better starting point than a generic statement about Singapore weather. Ask what happens overnight
Temporary protection deserves its own discussion when removal exposes a roof. Identify who checks the condition at the end of the day, who responds to unexpected rain and which indoor rooms need protection. Ask the contractor to explain how temporary works preserve safe drainage and avoid creating an uncontrolled load. These are professional method-planning questions; they are not instructions for a homeowner to improvise a cover.
Work at height can involve fragile surfaces as well as open edges. Request progress photographs from the contractor rather than treating a pause as a chance to inspect the roof yourself.

A scheduling example
Consider a hypothetical Monday start after a weekend of rain. The crew arrives, but the specified substrate check does not meet the acceptance criteria. The useful question is not whether Monday “counts as a workday”. It is which tasks can proceed, what must wait, when the next check occurs and whether temporary protection remains adequate.
If a later shower affects a partly completed area, the programme should allow an assessment of that area before further covering. A revised date should follow the assessment. Quietly applying the next layer to recover the original schedule makes it harder for the owner to understand what was accepted.
Agree the commercial effect of a pause
Have the contract state how weather delays are notified, what evidence is supplied, whether protection or remobilisation attracts an additional charge, and how a changed completion date is agreed.
